Maybe a surprise or two

Beings assisted surgeons during the operation........

Compliments of NDERF

Jonathan R's NDE

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Going into the operating room I had an unusual amount of peace. I was joking with the staff and doctors. I had no fear at all. I remember counting backwards from 10, but don't remember what number I got to. It was several days later that I began to remember what happened during the operation. And only a few days ago I first shared it with my wife in fear of being considered a nut.

I remember standing about 10 feet up and 10 feet to the side of my body on the table. A person was standing next to me, but I didn't look at him/her. I had no fear, or questions to ask, I just observed.

Around the table were at least a dozen nurses and doctors. But what was so emotional was the presence of white people that I can only describe as angels. Each angel was guiding the hands of the staff they were standing next to.

I heard no noise, no voices, no music. It was peacefully quiet.

I don't remember details to specific, such as what tools were used, or the exact position of my body, but only because I was focused so much on the angels guiding the staff in everything they did, from walking, to the use of the tools within my chest cavity.

Even after the operation, I still had an unusual peace and no fear. The doctor said it was the best operation he had ever gone through, there were no problems at all, and he was impressed at my rate of recovery.
I was released from the hospital only 14 days after having my chest opened, deflated lungs, and patched esophagus.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain It was peaceful, but makes me emotional. I get teared up when I think about it. Not in a bad way, but in a "Thank God!" way.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event? Yes Perforated esophagus. Pre-existing hole torn by food lodged in the hole. Doctor found air, spit, and food sitting on my heart. Chest cavity should have been infected, but no infection was found. Doctor told me I had less than 1% chance of living through the operation (afterwards!!). And less than 40% chance of living past one year.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? The whole time I had the experience, my level of consciousness was the same. I was only paying serious attention to the angels and their guiding.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness? Less consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain: The whole time I had the experience, my level of consciousness was the same. I was only paying serious attention to the angels and their guiding.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)? Uncertain Besides the fact that I was standing in mid air, not hovering, and there was no ceiling (at least none that I remember), everything was in color, and the primary light came from the operating room lights.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
Yes there was no sound. Peaceful to me is no sound, it was peaceful.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body? Uncertain

What emotions did you feel during the experience? Peace and lack of fear. Nor did I have any questions or comments to the angel next to me. I knew not to bother the angels.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure? No

Did you see a light? No

Did you meet or see any other beings? Yes There was an angel standing next to me, but I did not make any attempt to communicate with them, or to look at them. I was concentrating on the angels guiding the operation.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life? No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later? Yes The doctor said it was the best operation he had ever performed. There was no problems during the operation, and no infections.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions? No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time? Uncertain I didn't begin to remember the event until a few days after the procedure. I do not know how long I was in the operating room.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose? No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No I think I was standing on the ceiling, but the ceiling was not there. I'm not sure if this is the kind of limiting structure you ask of.

Did you become aware of future events? Uncertain
I could tell that because the angels were guiding the doctors, that I was not going to die and that everything was going to be ok.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience? No

Have you shared this experience with others? Yes It was a few days after the 4th anniversary that I told my wife. No one else knows, but I am going to tell my pastor. Other than that, just you.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened: Experience was probably real I thought, and still think, it could be a dream. But I also feel it could be real. I have no way of proving any of it was real, other than I lived through an operation I should have died in, and I had no infection where there should have been.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you? The angels were the focal point, that meant a lot to me. It showed me that I am always being protected, and I am here for a reason.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience: Experience was probably real I feel the same way as in 40.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes I became more bold afterwards, but also more emotional.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes I became more bold to approach people and tell them about Jesus.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience? No

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience? I'm still not sure if what I experienced was real, but I know God had to of helped the doctors.

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes It allowed me to explain various aspects I had not considered.

Are there any other questions we could ask to help you communicate your experience? The religious questions are vague, should simply ask what religious affiliation are you with.

 Fascinating account!

COMPLIMENTS OF NDERF

Stephen C's NDE

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I was accosted, stabbed repeatedly and shot twice in the spine. Made it to the emergency room. Then, as I was signing the "consent" form, I "left"... My first recollection was at the top of the emergency room. I could see myself on the table, several doctors and two policemen. I heard the doctor tell the cop to take my personal belongings to "property", cuz "He won't be here in the morning". Then, ( and there was no relative "time" frame...my next vision was above the hospital looking down..

The next "moment", I was in a space of light. No tunnel of light...just a space. I "learned" later that time and space only exist in the 3rd dimension, and once one leaves it; there is none. There was no "here" or "there". There was no definitive source of the light.. The "space" just WAS light. Then...here's where it gets kinda weird.... 3 beings appeared to me. (Now it must be said that up until that time I had no understanding or knowledge of E.T.'s...afterlife stuff..NDE's...any of it.. I was just an out of control, bike riding, drug using "hippie" from the 60's. OK.

Anyway, Now I guess I should explain that after these events, and I awoke 5 days later in ICU... It was another 15 years before I "awoke" and accepted what had happened to me. During that time I thought I was totally insane, because I had a second "voice" in my head - which I will explain later. In 1988, I chose to enter "recovery" and quit drinking and using drugs. Within weeks of accepting "Spirit" into my life, everything, and I do mean everything, changed.

Now, back to the "experience"... Soooooooo, There "I" was, in this "space" of light, with these three "beings" appearing in front of me. We had a "conversation"..and later (*15 years)..when all of this came "clear".. I was given a choice..AS IS ALWAYS DONE...to stay "gone" or to go back. "They" told me that they wanted my "form"...( the physical form holds the cellular memories of all of ones experiences) and "they" wanted to send me back with a "new" spirit. A "healing" and "teaching" one. But that "they" wanted it in a "form" that had the ability to survive until the "time" was "right". I must have agreed.

The next thing I remember was waking up in ICU with tubes and wires everywhere. I should have had a colostomy...and many other surgeries., BUT, since no one expected me to make it..All they did was remove one of the bullets and sew me back up. Well... within 5 days of waking up I was walking around with the bottles on the racks...The doctors couldn't believe it..and with in a few more days I left the hospital.

Well I now had this "new" spirit... but didn't know it consciously..SOOOOOOOO, my "abuse" went really out there...trying to quiet this "new" voice.

Long story short:...Once I accepted Spirit, (1988).. everything changed. I knew intuitively most of the healing arts (Reiki, Acupuncture, Tai Chi, and others) I could see peoples "restrictions".. I had an instant connection to peoples "higher selves" (Spirit) when they got within 3 feet of me. I instantly knew many of the teachings that were published years later.

When I "touch" someone, their Spirit tell me their "truth"...behind their "cover story"... Made me a very good therapist... I also knew of the "other inhabitants" of the universe... Don't "go" there much anymore.. Not the reason "we're" here.

In 1996 I moved to Colorado..The Rocky Mountains..Grounding... I've worked the 8-5 thing; which I'd never done before...I needed to understand "normal"..doubt I ever will. Today I own a real estate appraisal business, and my closest friends know "who" I am, and know they can "ask" when the "need" arises. I've learned balance, peace, empathy, unconditional love and spiritual ethics from my "walk" these past 19 years...
Several "writers" have wanted to do my "life" story...but I've always said..no one would believe it...As for this writing, there is much more than is written here. This will give you a glimpse into ME.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain Didn't fully "open" to it until years later when I changed my "lifestyle"

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event? Yes I was shot and "killed" by a gang

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? None....during it. My "head" didn't get clear enough until 1988. No, I take that back. One of my nurses told me that right after I "woke" up, I was still talking to other beings.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain: None....during it. My "head" didn't get clear enough until 1988. No, I take that back. One of my nurses told me that right after I "woke" up, I was still talking to other beings.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)? Yes

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
Uncertain

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body? Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience? It needs to be known to ALL...that on the "other" side...there is no HELL, or "bad" place. If there were, I definitely would have gone there. There is NO PAIN...NO LOSS...NO PHYSICAL SENSES AT ALL. Only peace, calm, connectedness to the "all-that-is"...a true feeling of JOY...of "HOME". That's the only way I've ever been able to describe it.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure? No See Above comments

Did you see a light? Yes everything WAS light

Did you meet or see any other beings? Yes I didn't mention it before, but beings of the "other" side, take a "physical" form so that our conscious minds can understand "them"... The conscious mind has great difficulty understanding the "non-physical"..It has no reference points..It can only make logical assumptions. So. "they" take a "physical" form to make thier conversations, and/or directions understood by us when we "return" to the physical plane (if we choose to).

Did you experience a review of past events in your life? Uncertain "They" basically told me that I had "used up my life force"...and they wanted to give me a "new" one that would benefit many.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later? Uncertain only that many would come into my path...some to help, some to learn from.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions? No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time? Yes As stated before...Time and Space, as "we" know it, only exists here, in the third dimension, on this planet. You do know that we created time..created it to justify our own existences. Everyone relates their "well being" to those things they have done or created in the "past"....lineal time. To answer the question...There was NO time

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose? No Not until later

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain Don't know what you mean? All I know today is that all boundaries are just illusions based on inadequate belief systems.

Did you become aware of future events? Uncertain
Not until later

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience? Uncertain See Above Comments

Have you shared this experience with others? Uncertain A few close friends... though many asked about me, once they saw the great change I made in my life.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened: Experience was definitely real I knew at least most of it was real by the quickness I healed from the gunshot and knife wounds and that since then, I don't get sick or injured, and like cuts or bites all heal within 24-48 hours. Whatever that means.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you? Pretty much all of it.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience: Experience was definitely real I was there...that's all there is to it. And my resulting journey is evidence of it.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes OH YEAH !!!

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience? Uncertain Too lengthy to describe here.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience? If you have doubts, I can be reached at healingman1@yahoo.com

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Uncertain As best as I choose to reveal on a public site.

Are there any other questions we could ask to help you communicate your experience? I understand that you're purpose with these questions is to get as clear "picture" of the persons' experience as you can... Many of the questions appear redundant.. Sorry...just my opinion.

An exercise in which we can design our next body and our next existence...whoa...heady stuff.

I am working on a list of the attributes of the body, personality, psyche, goals, etc., that I would like to have the next time around. Very delightful experience. Yes, I will be extremely rich - but, I will be as generous as I am rich!

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

When I woke up in the morgue, I was naked and paralyzed. The only available light came from the opaque glass window in a door. Two people stood in the doorway. a nurse holding the clothes I had had on and my brother in law. He said "do dead people cry'. The nurse looked at me and said "oh, my God". I passed out. I came to again and was being wheeled down a corridor with signs above me saying intensive care. I passed out again.

Then I became aware that I was semi-alert. Not awake but aware of something happening to me. I felt like I was a smoky being inside my body. This smoky being was curling up. First I curled up inside my feet, then legs, then arms, then body. All very, very slowly. When all the smoky being was inside my head I suddenly felt a big pop and I was outside my body. I could look down on my body from above. I wondered if I could go through the wall. I did. outside of the room was a long corridor.

My mother, sister and brother-in-law were there. My sister said I wonder if we should stay. My brother-in-law said I will do whatever you guys want. My mother said well you know I don't like hospitals. If felt annoyed with them. I decided to go up the corridor to see what was there. Around the corner was a seating area. I got nervous about being away from my body. I decided to retrace my path. Back in the room I was amazed to discover the body was talking to two police officers. Describing an accident but not in any way the one that I had been in. I decided to go back into my body. I saw that there was a bright light outside the window. Outside the window was a parking lot. I had seen it when I left the room. Now I could not see any parking lot, just the bright light. I thought to myself, I am not ready to go. Immediately I was inside my head and the smoky being was unraveling slowly. I felt that someone else was in the body. I felt that someone had a name "Cathy". I thought Cathy you do not have to go. You can stay too. I felt that person was frightened. I did not talk to the police. Cathy stopped talking. I passed out again. I spent weeks in the hospital.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)? Yes The light from the window was so intense it obscured all other colors and made them look washed out.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
Yes Acute

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body? Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I had no affinity for my mortal body.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure? No

Did you see a light? Yes I saw only this extremely intense light. I knew that I had the option to go into it or stay back. It didn't entice me.

Did you meet or see any other beings? Yes At the accident scene. I was thrown violently from the vehicle. I passed out and came to several times. One time I was aware of a man holding me in his arms. He ask me if I was cold. He said I can get you a blanket. I knew that if I opened my eyes he would not be there. I asked him who he was. He said "I am just a drover". He said "you are going to be alright". From that point on I knew that I had nothing to worry about so I did not worry. He said this with a most calming voice. A voice I heard only in my head. Not with my ears.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life? No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later? Yes My sister and brother-in-law verified the conversation in the morgue and corridor. Years later an Aunt told me that he grandfather, my great grandfather had always said of himself, "I am just a drover". She added that he had a remarkably beautiful speaking voice.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions? No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time? No

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose? No

Not at that time. However later from time to time I saw visions of the future. Also sometimes I could hear what people were thinking.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience? Yes I had other near death experiences. One time my car hit black ice and skidded out of control. I saw clearly my two little girls years before they were born. I was frightened at all. I knew I wasn't going to die. The car righted itself and I continued to drive. I glimpsed the two occupants of an oncoming car. They had a look of abject horror.

Have you shared this experience with others? Yes Many years. When I was discharged from the hospital I was in really bad shape. I had amnesia. I went back to work with no knowledge of what I did. I had no fondness for my family. I was a clean slate.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience? No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened: Experience was definitely real I wondered who was living my life myself or Cathy.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you? I underwent a complete personality change. First thing I did was a lot more traveling. I gained a tremendous amount of self confidence.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience: Experience was definitely real My parents were very timid. They never expected much from life. The life I have lived is not the life that I would have lived if not for the accident.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes For example without reading your questionnaire, I have anticipated every question. This has been my experience all my life since the accident.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience? No Intensified.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience? No All my experience have been unrelated and never duplicated. The other out of body experiences were a result of an accident on the operating table. I left my body and saw what happened and later told the Doctor what he did. He never tried to do that particular thing again. I did not sue him. It was a mistake. I tried to have out of body experiences but could not of my own volition. Now I have cancer. I am fine and healthy but in pain sometimes so I can take morphine when needed. I know that I am not going to die just yet. I have something yet to do. I do not know what it is though.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience? I don't want to spook you.

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes You know.

Are there any other questions we could ask to help you communicate your experience? No

Talk about bizarre - makes me realize how little we understand of the nature of existence......

Valerie K's Experience

Experience description:

It was January or February 1968. I had been visiting with a friend of mine that lived in the apartment three doors down from me. It was just a typical Saturday afternoon. My friend's boyfriend came to see her and brought a friend with him. He wanted to know if the two of us would like to go to the stock car races with the two of them. We decided it might be fun so I went to my apartment to get a jacket while they waited for me. I was just at the doorway of my apt., when suddenly I found myself walking in a thickly forested area. Looking around me I realized I was in a jungle following a small group of soldiers (American). The two soldiers at the end of the line stopped and turned when I stumbled over a vine and they helped me through a thickly wooded area. They did not seem surprised to see me (a civilian) there and they acknowledged my presence obviously by helping me when I stumbled.

After walking a ways with them I realized I was in Viet Nam. I talked with the soldiers quietly as we walked along. Then I realized That a very close friend of mine was the soldier in the lead. (He was the only soldier there that I had knew.) I excused myself from the companionship of the two soldiers walking with me and started to walk to the front of the line to talk to my friend. (This friend and I were very close in high school and I was glad to see him again.) As I neared the front of the line where my friend was, another soldier grabbed my arm and restrained me just before I reached him. Just then we heard the click. My friend had stepped on a land mine. The force of the explosion threw me backward against a tree. I screamed as blood splattered my body.

The next instant found me again in the doorway of my apt. and I heard the sound of feet running as my friend and the two boys waiting for me came to see what had happened. They found me standing in the doorway with my hands braced against the door jam on each side. I had blood and dirt splattered on my clothes and face and my right shoulder was painfully swollen and turning black. It had been dislocated when I hit the tree. Needless to say, we did not go to the races that day; it took some time before my friends could calm me down. I have had many such experiences and wasn't upset at having had such an experience, but the nature of the experience, what I had just seen happen with my dear friend, was upsetting.

The problem with my shoulder, although it was reset, has persisted to this day. The doctors cannot understand the problem with it! It had been a normal day - I was under no stress, nor was I ill in any way. I was wide awake when it occurred. I was not taking any medication or on any kind of drugs and was not attempting to have any such experience. I used to think my experiences were some sort of OBE but as I've heard other people talk I think my experiences may be more like Astral Projections. They happen often. Sometimes with physical evidence afterwards and sometimes not.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience? No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event? No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience? I was wide awake

Was the experience dream like in any way? No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body? No

What emotions did you feel during the experience? First- curiosity at where I was

Then joy- at seeing my friend there

Next shock and horror- at seeing him step on the land mine and the results

Later grief- after experiencing the death of my friend

And finally, fear - after I received a letter from my mother two weeks later confirming what I had witnessed right down to the day and hour of the happening. I did not ever want to experience anything that horrible again.

Later- following my grief, reconciliation- to this particular experience. This type of experience has happened to me all my life but this one was particularly traumatic because of my friend.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises? Yes, all my senses were intact. I heard the muffled steps of the soldiers, the rustle of leaves on the trees, the caws of birds, I smelled the damp musty loam in the jungle, felt the humidity against my skin.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION: Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures? Yes I was in the jungle in Viet Nam. I saw no creatures there, only the soldiers I walked with, although I did hear birds.

Did you see a light? No Not like a big bright light like some talk about in NDE experiences. The only light were splashes here and there as it found it's way down through the canopy of the trees.

Did you meet or see any other beings? No Just the soldiers

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

There was no way anyone could have known about this event before it happened. And as I said, it was confirmed in a letter two weeks later, when my mother wrote me to tell me about it.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later? Yes see#12

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different? Yes My senses were normal, like in any day. See#8

Did you become aware of future events? Yes Not really future, I was just there at the exact time and place where it happened.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices? As I said, this was just one of many that has happened to me since I was three years old. It is outstanding only because of the loss of a dear friend and the horror of witnessing what happened to him. And also the physical manifestation present following the event.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience? No

Have you shared this experience with others? Yes I am very careful who I share these experiences with. I use lesser experiences to feel my way in before I relate some of my heavier experiences, like this one. Few people know of my experiences. And of those that do, I'm not sure even all of them believe me.

What emotions did you experience following your experience? see#7

What was the best and worst part of your experience? The best part was seeing my friend one last time. The worst part was the loss of my friend.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience? I knew about the war in Viet Nam as every one else at that time did, but I did not think about it one way or the other. I was not involved with any anti-war movements nor did I even care enough to read or keep up with any news about it. I don't know why I was projected to Viet Nam, except to maybe see my friend one last time.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience? Yes Yes, I have had numerous events both before and after this one.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience? Yes Although my experience may be somewhat unusual these experiences have always been normal for me. I do not control them in any way, they happen spontaneously, sometimes when I'm awake, sometimes when I'm asleep. Sometimes when I'm alone, sometimes when I'm with others. I just know that when it's important, I go!
I never remember leaving my body or returning to it, although on some rare occasions I am aware of floating over my body.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire. You might ask more about any physical manifestations present following the episode.
